Inv. n°: MMoCA795
Headpiece of a 'Gesichtshelms' Cavalry Parade Helmet with Repoussé Griffins
The helmet is made of a relatively thick sheet metal (± 0.1 cm). The neck-cover is slanted and smooth, not very developed. On the forehead, a riveted hinge made possible to articulate the front part of the helmet, which represents a face. The repoussé decoration uses symbolic elements of protection: on the top, a pair of winged griffins; on the front, molosses facing each other frame a central palmette.
