Inv. n°: MMoCA791
Fragmentary Marble Sculpture of a Greek Mythical Creature, apparently Triton, son of Poseidon and Amphitrite
The statuette shows a bearded man with anguiped legs. There are scales preserved on the right thigh. The head looks up and to its right. The mouth is open, and the brow contracts over the eyes; both details give a sense of ‘pathos’. The hair recedes over the brow, and there was once an element attached over the brow. The arms are missing. The right arm was lowered, and the left raised.
