Greek Bronze Shield Attachements
For placing in the interior of the shield, in the same position on opposite sides of the centre, facing vertically. It may have been an attachment for a particular device - the porpax (a large semi-circle in bronze in the interior of the hollow part of the shield, and the antilabé (a little leather strap), allowing for more comfort and greater force.
