Ring with the Bust of Roman Emperor Hadrian

Flattened on the inside and rounded on the outside, with an oval amethyst intaglio in a broad, high setting. The intaglio depicts a Roman Emperor. Comparison with coin portraits allows him to be identified with Hadrian. A powerful, straight nose dominates the face, the brows are contracted to a frown, and the short, wavy hair is adorned by a corona, which is tied together forming a bow at the nape of the neck. He wears a full beard.
