  • Allan Frumkin Gallery (opened in 1959 and now called George Adams Gallery), New York, purchased by exchange in December 1980 (inventory no.1199) most probably from Pilkington Gallery, London, New York, 1980
  • Alan Frumkin sold it by exchange to Alice Adamn Ltd. where acquired by the present owner, Chicago, 1985
  • Acquired at John Berggruen Gallery via Caroline Wiseman, California, 5th November 2008, accompanied with an authentification certificate from Marguerite Duthuit, Matisse’s daughter
