Roman Bronze Mask of a Youth

Nijmegen Kops Plateau type. Roman bronze mask of a youth from a parade helmet with thin ocular slits and slightly parted lips. This expressive mask, hammered from a single sheet of metal, formed the anterior side of a face helmet and was fixed to the body of the helmet by a hinge located on the forehead. On the reverse there is a thick encrustation of earthen deposits.
