Roman Marble Janiform Herm

Depicting a maenad and Paposilenus, the maenad with lidded eyes of almond shape and a rounded chin, her hair centre-parted, wearing a wreath of ivy and berries, long tresses falling onto her shoulders, Paposilenus with a creased forehead, furrowed brows, and fleshy lips, with a long down-turned moustache and a beard composed of corkscrew curls wearing a wreath of ivy and grapes with a twisted band over his bald head. Less worn copy of herm found in House of the Vetti, Pompeii.
